Ms. Joyatri Ray

Joyatri Ray is a social development professional with over 22 years of experience in child protection. Her work primarily focuses on child trafficking, child sexual exploitation, and online child abuse in India and across South Asia, with a special emphasis on the travel and tourism sector. Throughout her career, Ms. Ray has collaborated with government bodies and various non-governmental organizations to promote child protection as a priority across countries. Her efforts in addressing child protection issues within the context of travel and tourism have been recognized by multiple government entities. Ms. Ray's professional experience includes a tenure with UN Women (formerly UNIFEM), where she concentrated on human trafficking in travel and tourism. She has also served as the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for ING entities in India. Currently, Ms. Ray works as a freelance consultant, partnering with diverse organizations and corporations to develop child protection mechanisms as part of their policies and practices. She mentors small and medium-sized organizations on advocacy actions, strategy formulations, and result-oriented implementation plans to combat human trafficking. Ms. Ray extends her expertise to the unorganized sector, raising awareness about gender relations and child protection issues. She guides these entities on ensuring their operations are not exploited for the abuse of women and children. Presently, Ms. Ray holds the position of Director at Equitable Tourism Options (EQUATIONS), a research, campaign, and advocacy organization focused on tourism and development issues in India.
