Salima Tete (born 26 December 2001) is an accomplished Indian field hockey player from Jharkhand, currently serving as the captain of the India women's national field hockey team since 2 May 2023. Hailing from a village in the Simdega district, Tete comes from a farming family, with her father also having played hockey. She made her national debut in 2017 against Belarus and quickly rose through the ranks with her exceptional skills and leadership qualities. At the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, Tete captained the Indian team to a silver medal. In 2021, she was part of the Indian squad that competed in the Tokyo Olympics. Tete is also the current captain of Nabhvarna's, further showcasing her leadership abilities and commitment to the sport. Her journey from a small village to leading the national team is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for field hockey.
