Om Prakash Choudhary, born on June 2, 1981, is a prominent Indian politician currently serving as the Minister of Finance in the Government of Chhattisgarh. He represents the Raigarh constituency in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly since 2023.
Choudhary's life story is one of remarkable achievement against the odds. Hailing from Bayang village, he lost his father at the age of eight. Despite this early setback, he excelled academically, studying in village government schools before earning a B.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, and Electronics from Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University.
At the age of 22, Choudhary became one of India's youngest IAS officers after clearing the UPSC exam in 2005. His administrative career was distinguished by service in various key roles, including SDM in Durg District, CEO Zilla Panchayat in Janjgir and Surguja, Municipal Commissioner in Raipur, and Director of Public Relations.
Choudhary's tenure as Collector in Dantewada, Janjgir, and Raipur districts was particularly noteworthy. His educational initiatives in Dantewada earned him the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
