Ms. Madhu Mehra

Madhu Mehra is a feminist lawyer and founder of Partners for Law in Development (PLD), where she leads research and training initiatives. She critiques criminalization approaches in issues like child early marriage, sexual and gender-based violence, and witch-hunting, advocating for transformative, victim-centric solutions. Active in legal advocacy, she has worked to decriminalize same-sex relations and adultery in India and currently focuses on adolescent sexuality. Through PLD, she leads the National Coalition Advocating for Adolescent Concerns. With nearly 30 years of work on CEDAW in Asia, her contributions to gender policy were recognized in Apolitical’s 100 Most Influential in 2021.
